Regional identity homework
This advert of Greek yoghurt tells the storyline of a boy letting a cow out of the field, going to get it back again and telling his mother that he got the 'escaped' cow back so he can get the reward of yoghurt. Overall I think it is set in Greece. This is due to the old looking buildings and the town which is set in the mountains which is what I think is the stereotypical view of Greece. In the video there is also a Greece flag in the background and they are speaking a foreign language. The music in the background also sounds like Greek folk music. The clothes that they wear are very simple which could be a message showing that the yoghurt being advertised is natural and simple, this is also shown through the settings. Throughout the video is looks very old until we see some cables and at the end the mother answers a mobile which could represent that although the yoghurt is unchanged since 1926 it still fits in with modern day society. Looking at the video the life they led is a very simple one. There is a community feel and they make there own food, this is the life everyone dreams off which could also relate to the yoghurt again. We also see a man on a donkey which could also show nature and the simple life again. The fact that the little boy can go running to get the cow by himself shows that it is a very carefree life they lead. The way he acts with the cow, how he gets the cow out of the field and leads the cow back, shows they have close relationship which could show that the boy spends a lot of time out in the fields with them in nature. Overall I think that this advert has a very strong regional identity.
